Pricing
Prices for hardwood flooring can vary drastically based on a variety of factors, including wood type, style, and finish. Domestic tree species tend to be less expensive than exotic varieties, but the style and finish are the factors that influence the price the most.

Waterproof flooring is the latest evolution in flooring technology, but the term is pretty generic and doesn’t really describe what it is, how it’s constructed, or why it’s better. That’s why we, at Flooring Liquidators, have created this guide – to help educate you on waterproof flooring, and what options you have. Let’s first start with the million-dollar question…
What Is Waterproof Flooring?
As we mentioned above, the term is pretty generic and can be used to describe a variety of flooring materials – like tile, vinyl, or even linoleum. HOWEVER, the term is most often used to describe either solid-vinyl plank products or other vinyl laminate products.
Each manufacturer has its own process of construction and composition, but generally, the vinyl planks consist of a PVC core, with a vinyl wear layer on top – making these products impermeable and extremely durable. This makes this flooring type a great option in bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and any other places susceptible to flooding.
How Are Waterproof Planks Installed?
Waterproof flooring is intended for use indoors, and is installed like you would install other laminate flooring options:
- The surface is cleaned and leveled
- Underlayment is installed (though some flooring options have underlayment affixed to flooring planks)
- Laminate flooring is installed
- Decorative quarter-round is installed along baseboards to finish the look
This process is much easier than some flooring options (like tile) and makes it easy for confident “DIYers” to tackle this installation on their own. That being said, many homeowners like to have a professional install their flooring, as knowledge and experience with flooring layout can help ensure ideal results.
What Options Do I Have?
The answer to that question mostly depends on the look you’re wanting to achieve. Since waterproof laminate is not a natural product, it is often designed to look like other natural flooring options – like wood, ceramic, slate, or even travertine. This gives you the aesthetic benefits of other products while maintaining a higher-level of durability.
