• Tile

A prediction in the flooring industry is that 2024 will be the year of the tile. Of course, tiles have been popular for a long time – and with good reason – but in the coming year, we can expect new and fresh varieties. Look out for checkerboard tiles this coming year – and not just in black and white, but in other varieties such as white marble and soft grey. 

We are pleased to see that the mosaic tile will be making a comeback – a wonderful way to inject your style into your home. You can choose between custom tiles or sheets of tiles. 

Natural stone options will continue their reign in 2024, so expect to see marble, and slate or slate-look porcelain tile. The terracotta tile, which is often praised for being fresh and timeless, will feature this year, in various shapes, styles, and textures. 

• Natural and light wood

Over the last couple of years, we have seen the rise of natural and light-colored woods. Experts say that this love of light and natural wood is set to continue. We will be seeing more white oak, and we love how this option gives a neutral, natural, warm, and welcoming feel.  

• Wide plank hardwood

Hardwood floors are timeless and loved by many. Those of you with an eye for interiors may have noticed that the width of the planks has been getting wider over the last couple of years. Well, it’s predicted that hardwood planks will get even wider in 2024! This modern design in hardwood draws inspiration from Europe and creates quite a fresh look.

• Patterns

Watch out for a new style of pattern making its debut, because how tiles and wood flooring are laid will be of note in 2024. Look for Herringbone, chevron arrangements, and basketweave in entrance halls, and smaller rooms such as bathrooms and laundry rooms. 

• Luxury vinyl

Around the world, more and more homeowners are recognizing waterproof vinyl flooring for its style, durability, and practicality. This is especially apparent in kitchens, living spaces, and utility rooms. We saw the undeniable rise in global flooring market sales and we are pleased to see that it’s predicted to thrive in 2024.
